Hello everyone, my name is Jack Zhang from the International Department of Yunnan Hanwen Education Group. Before I embarked on the journey of studying abroad, I was not a typical excellent student in everyone's eyes. Because of various reasons, I even bred some weariness of learning and became a "bad student" in the eyes of many teachers.

Coincidentally, after graduating from high school, I had the opportunity to study international studies at the University of Southern Illinois in the United States. After experiencing different educational atmospheres, I was like "enlightened" and embarked on the " counterattack " journey. Because my parents and school have applied loose management policies for me,this kind of trust has promoted me to have a stronger sense of self-discipline and made me understand that self-discipline gives my freedom and happiness.

I was deeply attracted by the campus atmosphere of self-study in American universities. I gradually changed from being tired of learning into voluntary learning, and I learned to manage time as well. So, during my college life, I not only sub-majored in Economics, Political Science, East Asian Studies and Japanese, but also actively participated in various activities inside and outside the University, and served as the president of the Chinese Student Association of the Southern Illinois University.

When I was in China, I often heard the teasing from my friends that my learning method was to “study during playing”, but after I arrived in the United States, I really achieved a combination of work and entertainment. The school supports the personalized development for students. In this context, I could better plan my own courses and study time, have more time to attend parties, make friends, and most importantly, I can complete my study more efficiently.

After learning time management, not only in school I can do a good plan of my own time, even during the winter and summer holidays, I also try my best to use my time to participate in various activities and accumulate experience. Through my own story, I want to tell you that it is a very meaningful thing to study abroad and broaden our horizons. Living in the 21st century, we must enjoy the dividends of a globalized world, so that we can understand the world as much as possible, adapt to the world, and become the master on organizing time and life.

Set a deadline. Each learning experience has its own unique tasks, objectives and requirements. Constantly setting a deadline for ourselves, and it will motivate us to move forward. Of course, after entering the society, there will be no deadline for learning, and it will become an independent habit. Setting a deadline for yourself is undoubtedly a good way to improve the efficiency of learning and work. One of the mistakes we often make is to say to ourselves, "it will be done." This is not specific enough. When will it be finished? today? tomorrow? Or in a week? As long as there is no deadline, people tend to finish later. So set clear deadlines and let urgency and stress drive you forward.
02
Make time in your schedule to deal with the unexpected. One of the paradoxes of time management is that you have to set aside some time for unexpected events. Life doesn't run like an industrial assembly line. There will always be accidents. Therefore, please pay attention to this when making the schedule, and set aside some time every day to deal with accidents.

Set a time allocation for each activity and stick to it. Never set up a meeting longer than 30 minutes unless absolutely necessary. Meetings, phone calls, coffee chats, all of which may become black holes in time. Meetings without an end point can go on forever. Coffee chats without a stop may take up the whole afternoon.
